It’s Cuddle Season: How to Warm Up Your Home

flu season: Trane Residential

This blog post has been sponsored by Trane Residential who provided the thermostat for testing and photographing. As always, all opinions are my own.

When it’s cold outside, snuggling up inside leads to overwhelming feelings of comfort and happiness. #Facts. And there’s nothing that’s more of a cuddle season killjoy than when the climate indoors isn’t quite right. That’s why I’ve partnered with Trane Residential to help you transition to a cozier, smarter home this season.

Obviously, the first order of business is warming up your space, and Trane’s Connected Thermostat makes that process easy and efficient. Not only does a smart thermostat help you save money on heating bills, for example, it also allows you to lower or raise the temp without moving from the blanket nest you created to finish your novel while sipping a steaming cup of chai.

But climate control is only one piece of the cuddle-season puzzle. Follow these simple steps to seriously step up your snuggle game this season.

Here’s your checklist: Wooly sweaters, flannel shirts, onesie pajamas. Most importantly, don’t forget about your feet; nothing ruins a cuddle up like cold toes. Check your stash of fuzzy socks and slippers, and restock if necessary.

About that temperature regulation: There are a few good reasons to install a smart thermostat like Trane’s Comfortlink II XL 1050 Connected Thermostat. Smart thermostats make keeping your home at the perfect temp incredibly easy. Trane’s can follow your behaviors, monitors your usage, and help manage your home while you’re away (so you can warm it up before you walk in the door from a frigid subway commute!).  You also can use it to manage other smart home features like lights and locks. So, again, there will be no getting out of that warm, cozy bed to shut off the light for the night. And for the record, Trane Residential is a world leader in providing reliable heating solutions (air conditioning too, but that’s another story for another season!), so you can trust the product won’t let you down all year ‘round.

Yup, you can use your home goods to enhance that cozy cabin feel. Fluffy rugs your toes sink into are ideal. Soft quilts and throws all over the place, ready to be thrown on laps and shoulders, and candles just waiting to be lit.

What you make (or don’t make) for dinner can totally enhance and/or detract from cuddly vibes. Think root veggies and slow cooker stews instead of light salads filled with raw produce. And, of course, a kettle that’s always on for warming, wellness-boosting sips like matcha, chai, and chamomile.

Got everything in place and the temp in every room is beyond perfect? One of the best practices for cozying up has nothing to do with products. In fact, it has to do with ditching your devices and going analog. Get the whole family to burrow in the same room with books, magazines, or a good ol’ fashioned board game for the ultimate cozy night in. Winter just might top summer as your favorite season.
