Happy heart day!! If you’re just waking up to the realization that it’s Valentine’s Day and you forgot to send your someone special a card, no need to get all achy-breaky— you can send the perfect Valentine’s e-card right now. Spread the love with my faves from these sites:
My significant other says I’m spending too much time using my phone in the bedroom. But I always do a last-minute email check before bed, and I want to catch up on the videos people have sent me all day. Also, when else can I find time for Words with Friends? Is a little phone time at bedtime really so bad?
Stay connected. That’s the goal of every working or traveling mom. I know that when I’m away, whether it’s at the grocery store, or on a business trip, I’m always looking for ways to drop a line, say hi, be in touch. My kids are older now, so they’re attached to devices most of the time (how to remedy that is a whole other blog post), so they’re “messagable” whenever I want to tell them I love them to pieces, or to walk the dog before dark. But how can you send a quick “hello” to the pre-texting set?

That’s what several companies asked at the CES 2014 in Vegas, where I saw appliances in rainbow colors and patterns. Put your shades on, and let’s have a look:
CES in Las Vegas is overwhelming. So much is NEW! FASTER! SLIMMER! BETTER! (Sounds like my New Year’s resolutions), and it’s all on display to inspire you and lead you into the future. To bring you this roundup, I’ve partnered with Whirlpool, whose booth at the show frankly blew me away (it was a “kitchen of the future” so impressive that I’ll dedicate a separate posting to it— stay tuned). Here are some of my favorite finds from CES that will be making an appearance in your home soon, no doubt:
I love to entertain around the holidays, and I always have. Of course once you’re in the throes of getting ready for a holiday party, it can start to feel more like a sentence than a pleasure. There are so many details involved even with the most intimate gathering, that unless you want to spend all night in the kitchen, looking exasperated and making your guests feel uncomfortable, it pays to be organized.
