When you’re on an amazing vacation like I was at Imanta (above), it’s so tempting to take photos of every. single. thing. It’s natural—who wouldn’t want to capture inspiring sights and exciting moments to relive (and #regram) later?
But taking all those photos can really affect how much you’re enjoying the actual experience. You can’t be fully present, and travel should be about taking in as much as you can.
Enter Flytographer, a genius website that pairs you with a professional photographer in the city you’re visiting, who will follow you around like a celeb and document your fabulous journey.
It’s available in cities all over the world, from Mexico to Tokyo, and is super simple (and fun!) to use.
You just choose your city and then browse photographer profiles, which include a photo, a bio with details on the photog’s background and glimpses at his or her personality (One said: “I love having guests over and spoiling them with homemade meals and yummy cakes.”), favorite places to shoot, and languages spoken. They also have examples of photos they’ve taken for others, so you can see if you like their style.
Customers are using Flytographer to document their proposals, their honeymoons, or other milestone trips that they want to capture. You can book for 30 minutes, a few hours, or create a custom experience. At $350 for an hour shoot, it’s not cheap, but I see so many bonuses: travel tips from an actual local, no more asking strangers to snap badly-focused pics of your group, and (most incredibly) a wad of photos with you actually in them. Not to mention the many, many Instagram likes that all those pro shots will get.
