Spend, spend, spend. ‘Tis the season for blowing your cash on gifts for friends, family and you (those sparkly shoes that you must wear on your holiday party circuit). If you scoff at the idea that there’s actually ways to save at this time of year, well I don’t blame you. My “I think I can swing it” method of budgeting always ends up disaster, and I tend to close my eyes and not look at my credit card bill until January, which, after all the holiday merriment, is about as sobering as it gets.
If you want to start the new year in a better financial place, head over to the We The Savers blog on Capital One 360’s website. They’re the largest online bank around, and I have been working with them this season to deliver a message of saving in the season of spending. They’ve taught me a lot, and their digital money management tools make it easy for anyone to stay on budget while their on the go.
Have a read and tell me: Are you in the red this holiday season? Do you set budgets on apps? Do you squirrel away money during the year so you can holiday shop with abandon? What’s your best tip for budgeting this time of year?
