I’ve been doing this blogging thing now for many years.
I started writing my first blog in 2007 under the name “Mothercraft:” I was a newly certified Life Coach, and I had started a practice to help people (mostly women and moms) manage their lives, careers and families with ease.
My second blog was a companion for my Webby-nominated YouTube show, Digitwirl, which I started in 2009 to show busy people how to save time, money (and sanity) with technology. This idea was born out of my coaching practice, as more and more of my clients were turning to technology to help them manage domestic, work and family life, but didn’t feel like there were many blogs, magazines, personalities showing them how to do it.
I made 82 episodes of Digitwirl, and in each one I solved a common lifestyle headache with an app, gadget or website I thought did the job best. Many of those episodes, though years old now, are still really good primers for the products they reviewed, which is no small feat in the rapidly-changing world of technology.
But Carley K., my third and eponymous blog, is where I think I’ve finally figured out what I wanted to say and how to say it. It’s a place where I write love letters to technology, and highlight products I think do a good job of solving problems.
It’s also a place I express concerns about our addiction to technology, and where I share my own fears about how my relationship with technology is affecting my “human” relationships.
It also incorporates more of my interests than ever before, in a more personal writing style than I’ve ever attempted. My passion for food and entertaining, my love of interior design, and my own personal style— it’s so much fun to finally have a place to write about all of this, and share more of myself.
Thanks to many of you who have followed me for sticking with me through my journey, and thanks to ALL of you for reading Carley K. this year. I can’t wait to share more with you in 2016. Without further blathering, here are the best blog posts of the year, or at least the most popular ones!
