Got a peephole on your front door? They’re kind of handy, except that you need to squint to see out, the clarity isn’t great, and if the person on the other side isn’t standing right in front of it, you won’t be able to tell if it’s the UPS guy or a solicitor.
Plus if you watch too many thrillers, you might worry about a poke in the eye (or is that just me?). For a better view, take a look at the PeepHole Viewer by Brinno. It’s a battery-operated digital device that basically snaps into place, then gives you a 2.5″ LED screen so you can see exactly what’s going on outside. It even has a zoom, and no cartoony fisheye distortion. If you also want to know who dropped by while you were out, you can add a video recorder, a motion detector and a knocking sensor, so the device takes a picture when someone approaches your door. Best of all, the basic model costs less than a hundred bucks.
See me talking about the PeepHole Viewer on DIY Network here.
That’s what I call good-looking.
