The iPhone 6 is an impressive update, with its 4.7” screen (5.5” if you choose an iPhone 6 Plus), seven-millimeter-skinny body, improved camera and more goodies. If you’re unsure if you need to upgrade, read here for some counsel. But if you’re like me, you’ve decided you’ve gotta have it: but, how to pay for it?
While some of us might be up for an upgrade from our cellphone carrier, you might be looking for a way to get cash for your old phone to help pay for the new one.
I used Gazelle, a company that lets you trade in your old iPhone (or other device) for cash, to make some money back when it was time to get my current phone. Making monday back made the upgrade worthwhile (and since I was up for a free upgrade, profitable!). I’ve been using Gazelle for a while now: this Digitwirl epsiode I made about Gazelle 3 years old already— where has the time gone?— but the concept remains the same.
Right now on Gazelle, you can get as much as $315 for a flawless 5S. It’s free to mail it in, and you can get paid directly through PayPal, via check, or even with an Amazon gift card (which is like cash for me, I do so much of my purchasing there). There are a lot of other services that will offer you cash for your old electronics (here’s a few to get you inspired to sell your old tech clutter)
It’s also nice to know that Gazelle will wipe off all your personal data, restoring your phone to factory settings, but if you want to be certain your data isn’t vulnerable, I’ve created a checklist showing you what to do before you sell your old electronics on HGTVRemodels.
Have you ever sold an old device? Let me know in the comments!
